Power Pole
« on: March 09, 2010, 08:27:08 PM »

I am considering this investment for my boat.  Does anyone here have them?  Any complaints?   Or wish I would haves?

Depends on the boat.  It is just one more thing that could break.  I love PP's.  I especially like the new 4' PP for skinny water skiffs.  NOW......that being said, can I justify spending $600-$1000+ on a setup, that if it breaks, my boat could be out of commision for a short period of time??  NO.  So instead, I would go with a WANG Anchor.  I know when I get my next skiff, a WANG Anchor system will be going on it.  $215 and you are good to go!  And they are used on boats up to 24' long....so I know you would be fine.  Call Tom Tylisz at WANG and tell him I sent you.  813-442-4196

Think Ill stick with my rod blank and clip on stake out rope. works with my skiff, kayaks, most any small craft, plus great for staking out crab lines.  Cost Id say ten bucks and I'm being very generous.   8)

My dad insists on fishing the bottom a lot and I really just hate putting down the anchor all the time.  And then the anchor does not catch for whatever reason, so its just frustrating as hell.  The downside is that the powerpole is only around 8ft, which is shallow for my dad!  :)

Yikes!  Then I say either stick to the anchor or get him fired up up about sightfishing the flats and grass up there.
