Anyone make a Christmas Fly Rod
« on: February 17, 2010, 09:51:24 PM »

I remember some talks about people building a fly rod for Chistmas.  Did Santa ever deliver?  If so, how did it turn out?

I didn't build one myself but I had one custom built.  The guy did a fantastic job, I'll post pics when I get the chance.  I'd love to build one myself but I don't have the space in my apartment to do it.  I'd love to do it someday.  Has anyone else ever built their own rod?

I stopped by MudHole in December and purchased all the parts, but besides being lazy it just been to darned cold to work with epoxy on any days I've had off.

I did find teh spline of the 2 peices, and last week took the reel seat out and could not figure out exactly how to assemble the fighting butt onto the seat.
Posted up a thread on Mudholes forum and got a qucik and simple answer fro Todd. This weeken I'm on call and the weather is war enough, I might get a start on it today, because I purchased that Orvis I was asking about.

Seems like a pretty popular place for Florida rod builders. They are located in the middle of the state, Oviedo, happens to be where my daughter lives as a student at UCF, so when I visit here I can stop by the place. Most of their business is catalog-phone or online, but if you ever stop in there its lika a candy store for blanks and rod parts.

Ok I started, I glued the fighting but into the reel seat today.
