We have some flood tides that 5.6 high, and the low is around -.3ish.   Those are the biggest swings I have seen.  I love fishing the flood tides and cannot wait for them!

Well, maybe on a perigee tide spring and fall but I have worked right on the Ortega River here for the last 13 years and the norm is 3-4 feet differential I have always thought they were tame compared to what we had daily in CT at the mouth of the Mystic River. Maybe I just haven't been at the right spots here.

From what you describe, even a 6 foot tide would be tame compared to Conneticut.  A 8-9 ft daily tide is incredible.  That had to be pretty wild to watch a tide ebb or flow right before your eyes.

a 5.6 high is an extreme tide compared to the other parts of FL I have fished.  Most other places on a flood tide it's maybe 3-4 ft.  In alot of places, during the middle moon phase there is only a 2 foot wing or even less, not alot of water flow

I wouldn't really even call it a tournament, because I think it has somewhat a negative connotation.  Since, it implies the competitive nature(which can be bad for some) and also money.  I see this event as more of a get together and some fishing for bragging rights, all in good fun.

You can always do a three fly tournament, three for the entry and three to fish with.  Lots of ways to make it interesting and fun, very little cost involved.   ;)

I would still love to have this get together.

I was thinking these weekends:  August 7th, August 14th, September 4th, September 18th

How do these look for everyone?
