Steinhatchee 10/6
« on: October 07, 2009, 10:00:39 PM »

Got out yesterday morning, no wind, water was like glass and little current.  Tide was real low all morning (full moon) and alot of grass on the surface.  Got a couple of small trout in the 14 inch range and a ladyfish about 24 inches or so all on a bunny fly.  Although ladyfish are considered a trash fish, the are a blast to catch on the fly.

Sounds like a fun day.   You better wear sunglasses when bringing those ladyfish in, they can really throw some hooks!

Yea that's another reason I like them.  They pull hard, jump like tarpon, and if you let them flop once or twice by the boat they often release themselves.  Unfortunately, they have a tendency to fray or slime the leader and can sometimes destroy flies.

I love catching ladyfish, but you're right, they can cause a real mess of things.
